I promise I have a point!

Most of you know I love to run, but had to stop at the end of the summer because of a stress fracture in my foot. So I am finally able to do some running again, and it has been a hard transition. I started running, and my foot felt fine. A little sore, but not too bad. Then I pulled something in my ankle or calf, so I had to lay off running for a couple of weeks. Then I started back again, and I had to be careful for my ankle, which is the ankle that connects to my foot that had the stress fracture. And I do have to be careful for my foot too, since it still gets sore from the stress fracture. So as I was running this week, I started to notice that my body is constantly over compensating for my left foot/ankle. My left leg's stride is different than my right. And I am constantly changing the way my left foot hits the ground. For example, sometimes I roll off my big toe but then I got a blister on that side of my foot, so now I have to try to roll off my smaller toes, but I can't roll off my second toe because it is right above the stress fracture sore part and it really hurts to do that. So frustrating!

So my point, actually I have two, is that 1) I run like a gimp now more than ever!!! If you read Born to Run, he talks about how we all think we run smoothly until we see ourselves run, then we realize how uncoordinated we look. Well, I always knew I probably looked pretty uncoordinated but now I look like I have a fake left leg or something. It doesn't match the rest of my stride AT ALL....so you can call me SUPER GIMP LEG from now on:)

But my main, serious point is that, all the readjusting I was doing while I was running was all being done unconsciously by my body so that I could continue with my addiction to running (ha). It's amazing the way God made our body to overcompensate on one side if there is an injury or weakness on the other side. I guess that is why it was such a perfect illustration for God's people. If a part of the church is hurting or weak, the other, stronger side, takes over and helps as needed. Hopefully, God's people don't look as uncoordinated as I do running, but if they do, that's ok too:)

BTW- If you are reading this and you think....she should really stop running!! My husband agrees but I'm like Forest Gump.... "I've got to keep running!!!"
