Creating Memories

One of our last days in Beautiful Mexico, we went on an excursion with Josh and Isabel. We went on  a zip line, repelling, and snorkeling trip! It was really fun! It was different from the one we went on in Puerto Vallarata, but it was still really fun! Below are pics from the CD we bought. We didn't buy the pictures two years ago when we went and I wish we would have. They were really expensive but I think it would have been worth it, looking back now. But what's funny about us buying this CD, is I kinda lost it.... What happened was..... we bought it and we had a good hour and half ride back to our resort in a bus. I had gotten up super early that morning, gone running on the beach (which was kinda freaky because it was still dark), then climbed up all these stairs for the zip line and repelling, treaded water during snorkeling, all out in the hot sun. So of course, I fall asleep on the bus. I had put the CD in the pocket in front of me so I would see it when we got out, but when we got to the hotel, I was so groggy I just walked out and forgot about it!!! I was so mad because we actually bought pictures this time and I lost it! Luckily, we were able to a hold of the agency who was in charge of the excursion and they sent it to us! Thank goodness!

This is a picture of Talum from the CD

Zip Line fun!
The zip line was on top of three tall towers, I don't remember how tall it was, but it was over the trees of the jungle below. You climbed up stairs to get to the top then zipped over to the different towers. I think the farthest one was 4 football fields long! Isabel was so funny, she was a little freaked out the first time but then got the hang of it, but you could hear her screams every time!
 Show off!

The guides called Matt, Muscle Matt!

Time to Repel!
The repelling was fun, I believe the tower was 7 stories high. Isabel was screaming and yelling is Spanish the first few steps and then just started laughing. It was cute!

 Snorkeling!
The water was so cold in this cave! It was really pretty though! I was a little nervous about being claustrophobic but it wasn't too bad. They took us into an open space and let us explore, I just looked around a bit and then treaded water. I'm not big on being underwater inside a cave with just a snorkel. I kept thinking about some book I read as a kid where these kids got lost in a cave and died. So I kept my eye on the guide and our group the whole time! I'm such a worrier these days! It's funny the things that freak me out, I can jump on a zip line no problem, but snorkeling...Yikes! ha

We had a blast, and we are so blessed to have great friends and the ability to go to all these fun places! God is good!

Searching for Mayan Gold....

One Saturday the boys went golfing and most of the girls went shopping in Cancun. I really wanted to go to some of the Mayan ruins and I this ended up being the best day to do that. I was willing to go alone (I wouldn't have been really alone, with a group of other tourist from the resorts) but Matt was not okay with this at all. Luckily, four of the other guest from the wedding wanted to go too, so we all went together. We had a tour guide that was an actual Mayan descendant. He was so tiny! And he told us about the history and I really wish I would have written it all down! Basically this was the city that they used for trading and for watching for enemy attacks. It is right on the edge of a cliff with access to the water. The rocks they used to rebuild these temples, watch towers, and homes, are all original rocks that were found here. So everything is original!! Very cool. Unfortunately, you can't go in the ruins anymore because people were urinating in them, trying to steal rocks, and doing other terrible things. So to keep them preserved you can only walk around now. So frustrating that people have to be such idiots! There were Iguanas walking around everywhere which was fun too!

This tower has a a man carved above the door, there is a picture later that's closer but you still can't see it very good. This was one of the temple buildings.

If you look above the door, you can lightly see some red, this is original paint or blood from the original rocks that has stayed preserved for all this time!

There is a painting inside that door, you can lightly see it.

I would have totally settled here if I was an Indian! Gorgeous views!

You can kinda see the man holding his arms up like he is flexing.

These little square holes in this building told them what time it was by the way the sun went through them. They were crazy smart!

He posed with me:)
Stay tuned for the zip line and cave scuba diving!

Summertime and the Livin's Easy.....

One of my favorite places that I have been able to travel to is Mexico! I love the culture, the beach, and trying to speak Spanish;) We were lucky enough to get to go again this year for two of our dear friends, Josh and Isabel. They got married in beautiful Riviera Maya right in between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. We had lots of fun and took LOTS of pictures! I will try to narrow it down but I think this might be a long blog!

This is us wishing Aspen was with us

Corona on the tower by the airport ha!

The Welcome area at the airport, it was too expensive! I thought the prices were in pesos but it was US dollars!! Crazy

Dreams Riveria Maya Resort!

Our View! We walked straight onto the beach from our room!

Our Jacuzzi that we only used for washing sand off our feet!

Hey Good Lookin'

The Infinity Pool that looks over the beach!

Matt and Marta!

Sweet Sofia! She is the cutest!

Timo was too cool! He walked the whole way with his hands in his pockets!!

Beautiful Bride!

The Bridesmaids, Isabel's 3 sisters and Josh's sister. Loved being around a big family of girls! Reminded me of another family I know.....

Timo wouldn't sit down, and Sofia started yelling at him, "Timo!! Sit Down!" What are you doing!!" It was awesome!

I took so many pictures of the water! God is so good!

My model!

We like feet in the sand pics;)

The reception was great! Before the dinner we had hors d'oeuvres, and there was a Mariachi Band that was so fun! They danced and they sang some song that all of Isabel's family knew so they all joined in! Dinner was delicious and then came dancing! I took a lot of pics but a lot of them didn't turn out because of the movement. This is Isabel's parents, they had a blast!

Two of Josh's cousins came, and they were so much fun! I have already decided that it is ok when Aspen is 30 for her to marry one of them. The two next pictures are of Mason, playing with a glow stick and then break dancing. The third picture is Carter, the oldest, also break dancing. One night we watched break dancers do a show and I watched it with them and their mom. These guys were really good doing all kinds of tricks, and at one point Mason said, "Mom! They are coping my moves!" so great

Then we went to the Discoteca. Isabel and her sisters know how to dance! It was great!

Matt and Josh playing with the wedding goodies!
Mexico to be continued...... Next blog will have the pics from Talum, but you will have to wait for that:)
